How to Install XAMPP

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

If you would want to have Apache,MySQL,PERL,PEAR framework then it would be best and easy for you to just have XAMPP instead. It would be easier to install and use.

Here are the steps in installing XAMPP:

1. You can download XAMPP at apachefriends.org.

You can choose between the four distributions of XAMPP and since I am using Windows I'll be choosing XAMPP for Windows.

2. After choosing XAMPP for Windows then click XAMPP under Download.

3. You can choose either from Installer, Zip or 7zip.

For this one, I am going to use the Installer.

4. Then your download will start, just wait until your download would be successful.

5. After downloading, go to the folder which you have targeted for the download file. Once located, just double click the exe file .

6. Then the XAMPP Setup Wizard will show, just hit Next.

7. After clicking the Next button you will see this options, you can customize this if you want.

Then just hit Next again. But in my case, I didn't change anything from here anymore.

8. Then specify the location that you want to install XAMPP.

9. You may leave the check box as it is or just unchecked it you want then hit Next.

10. Just click Next again.

11. Wait until the installation is done and hit the Next button again.

12. And when this pop up message shows, simply choose private then hit Allow Access.

13. Same goes to this another pop up message.

14. If you are already done installing, this message will show up. All you have to do is to click the Finish button.

15. Now this is how the Control Panel would look like for XAMPP. If you will be running WordPress you need to let Apache and PHP run.

If you are running skype at the same time, you would notice that your Apache would just suddenly stop this is because they have the same port.

Here are the things we need to do with skype so that our server will fully run:

1. Go to your skpe account and look for Tools.

2. Hover Tools and Click Options.

3. You will find some options on the left side, hit Advanced.

4. After clicking Advanced you'll see different options below it, choose Connection.

5. Then unchecked the box that specifies port 80 for skype then hit save.

6. After saving you will need to Quit your skype and open it again so that the changes you've done will take effect.

And when you try to let Apache run again there would be no error anymore. Now you are finally done with the installation of a functioning XAMPP.
